Scheming on color

Whether it be for your wedding or for your bedroom, there are many great online tools available to aid in the selection of a color scheme. I thought it would be helpful to collect some of my favs together right here for your viewing pleasure.

Here you can enter any word or phrase and the search engine will retrieve five possible schemes based on the colors from related Yahoo images. I input the word “fabulous” this was one of the color schemes retrieved:

fabulous

And this is the what “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” looks like in color:Midsummer

Daily Color Scheme features a different scheme each day and keeps them all archived for your scrolling pleasure.

This site allows you to enter the url of any image in order to create a custom color scheme. I have been obsessed with all things Amy Butler as of late, so I created this palette based on one of her fabulous fabric patterns:

Colour Lovers is packed with palettes, patterns and tons of inspiration. You can search by many variables like color, keywords, and hue. I am quite fond of this site.

Hey, I like pink and brown as much as the next gal… but color makes a such huge impact when you are setting the scene for your event. This Knottie wedding certainly drives that point home. I would love to see more events using palettes that are set outside of the current trends. Try one of the links above, you could create a color scheme based on the title of your favorite song.

Have fun and happy planning.
